"Seeking the Unseen" was inspired by a night I’ll never forget in Haleakala, when darkness fell quickly and strange calls echoed through the forest. Only later did I learn they belonged to the elusive Ua’u, a bird that moves through the night with quiet courage. As I painted this dreamlike scene of glowing mushrooms, a wandering spoonbill and curious creatures meeting in the dark, I wanted to capture the mystery of that moment and the feeling of discovering something entirely unexpected. This piece reminds me that stepping into the unknown often leads to the most surprising wonders.
