Chevron beads, known as "CHEVRON" (also called Star Beads or Rosetta), were invented by Maria Valover in Murano, Italy, in the late 1400s. The technique for creating Venetian beads is based on ancient methods, but Chevron beads are unique to Venice. Chevron beads have been found with up to ten layers, predominantly in blue, with red, green, and black being rarer. Over time, Chevron bead production also began in the Netherlands. The term "Chevron" refers to a V-shaped pattern.
